Hello, my name is Ah-B. For
the past four years, I lived in a puppy mill.
When I was a puppy, I was loved by my owner, who owned the mill, and I
won many many awards for him.
However, when I got a bit older, my owner no longer gave me any attention. Some days I would be given food and there
would days no food was made available to us.
Many dogs in the mill became very anxious and to survive we had no
choice but to fight over the available food and that was how I got the hundreds
of tooth marks on my body.
For the last 6 months, my health got worst and I started to vomit and
having diarrhea on a daily basis. I thought getting sick mean getting better care, I was so wrong, getting sick mean being treated even worst and
eventually the mill owner kicked me out.
Everything happen for a reason …. And, that’s how I met my current family. For the past 2 months, my mom and
I fought together to gain my health back.
The vet confirmed I had heart-worm; however, due to malnutrition and anemia
(I weighted only 31 lbs), my heart-worm treatment could not begin until I got
better.
My digestive system was so messed up, no matter what I ate, I could
not hold. My mom was very patient even
I knew she was very very confused and sad (she was crying often) about my
situation.
Finally, my mom was introduced to a different vet and my blood work
was sent over to the UK and I was confirmed to have pancreatitis.
With pancreatitis, I can no longer generate sufficient enzyme to
digest any protein and fat and now I
rely on enzyme and probiotics supplements to support my digestion.
My parents are very dedicated and patient. I have been such a good
boy, I never complaint about the vegetarian diet and the Chinese medicine that I
have to take. I am very lucky to have
such a wonderful family now and I will gain my health back so I can live happily with my
parents and my 3 other pals.

To prevent Pancreatitis
- Maintain a Balance Diet
- Minimize Starch
- Having adequate Exercise
- Maintain good immune and digestive system
- Avoid sudden change of diet
- Avoid high fat / rich food (i.e. people’s birthday
cake)
- Avoid overfeeding; overweight dog is at
higher risk
- Avoid low protein, diet with low protein predispose
dogs to pancreatitis
- Secure your garbage so your dog cannot
get at it
- Avoid foreign object (non eatable object)
- Avoid corticosteroids, dogs that are on
corticosteroids have higher incidence of Pancreatitis
- Minimize medications
