Heartworm 心絲蟲

Heartworm disease is spread by mosquitoes and dogs can die from the disease.

Here are some of the signs of heartworm infection and the signs are more serve as the disease progresses. The disease can be with your dog for 3-4 years without showing any signs.
- Coughing
- Fatigue
- Labored breathing
- Exercise intolerance
- Vomiting and diarrhea
- Rapid weight Loss
- Dry Coat
- Rasping sounds coming from the lungs
- Fluid retention in the chest or abdominal cavity

Prevention
Heartworm medication is very toxic, it is capable of creating allergic reactions in some dogs.

• If you give your dog any heartworm medication, please also give milk thistle for 6 days to help flush out the toxin from the medication. 
• If your dog has inherently high (certain breeds have more issues than other) risk of thyroid or adrenal gland dysfunction, you should avoid the monthly medication instead try to fight worm and mosquitoes the natural way.  
• If your dog is not taking heartworm medication, when you go to your vet for yearly check, also have them test heartworm disease for early detection. 
• Improve your dog's diet and immunity can help fight heartworm disease
