Calcium for your dog 增加營養: 鈣

Following our previous article on feeding Eggs (see more Are you feeding commercial diet? Part 3 您餵狗糧嗎? (三), we mentioned we would talk about how to use the eggshell to improve your dog's nutritional intake.  If you make your own home cook meal, it is important to ensure there is sufficient nutrition, using eggshell to add nutrient is very easy.

(1) Composition/ 成份
Each eggshell consists of calcium carbonate (94%), magnesium carbonate (1%), calcium phosphate (1%), and organic matter (4%). 1/2 teaspoon of ground eggshell is about 1000 mg of calcium	每一個蛋殼的成份:  碳酸鈣（94％），碳酸鎂（1％），磷酸三鈣（1％），有機物​​（4％） 1/2茶匙碎蛋殼是大約1000毫克的鈣
(2) Please note the Feeding Guide is based on fresh food given only/ 請注意餵養指南是只計算新鮮食品的：
Dog:   800 to 1,000 milligrams of calcium, or 1/2 teaspoon ground eggshell, per pound of fresh food Puppy: 1,000 to 1,200 milligrams of calcium, or 1/2 to 2/3 teaspoon ground eggshell, per pound of fresh food (450 g).	狗：800至1000毫克的鈣，或每磅新鮮食品餵1/2茶匙. 狗仔：1000至1200毫克的鈣，或每磅新鮮食品 (450克)1/2至2/3茶匙碎蛋殼
Example/ 例子
For a dog that eats about 200 grams / 0. 5 lbs of fresh food per meal, each meal has to added about 1/4 teaspoon of egg shell	一隻狗吃約 200克/0.5磅 的新鮮的食物, 每餐要加約 1/4茶匙雞蛋殼粉.

   (3) How to get make your calcium powder? 如何做鈣粉？ 

Step 1) Rinse the eggshells / 沖洗蛋殼 
Step 2) Dry them in an oven set to a low temperature or on the counter overnight / 風乾一晚或以低溫烤爐烤乾 
Step 3) Grind them into powder/ 磨碎蛋殼

**REMARKS: Do NOT give extra calcium for Puppies younger than six months and Pregnant dogs
