Keep a Log
Either you are a professional trainer/rider or amateur trainer/ rider, keeping a log is a very powerful tool for your training. Here is an article by Ron Meredith on Keeping Logs and how keeping a log of your lessons and training sessions can help you keep track of your progress.
Example of some of the information to keep in a log
- Date
- Horse
- Training Exercise
- Duration (total hours)
- Note/ Remarks
When you are preparing your log, just make sure you are not keeping tracks of too many things and making record keeping a chore. Keep track of all the positive stuff, all your little daily victories, and your log will help you have a positive relationship with your horse.

Keeping a medical log would probably be helpful also, so you do not have to rely on your memory.
